UKIP has announced its candidate to contest the Ribble Valley for the party in the general election.
Shirley Parkinson will fight incumbent Nigel Evans in the May poll. It comes after David Hinder was announced as the Labour candidate and Jackie Pearcey was chosen as the Lib Dem candidate.Mrs Parkinson, 49, said: “The political establishment are no longer listening to the people.
[The political establishment] have let down an entire generation of young people, made pensioners choose between heating and eating and given housing developers a charter via the National Planning Policy Framework which allows them to destroy the rural character and beautiful countryside which is the Ribble Valley.”
