SHADOW education secretary Tristram Hunt has promised a "world class teacher in every classroom" and pledged to increase free childcare provision if Labour is elected next year.
Addressing the party's annual conference in Manchester he described education as a "moral calling" that should deliver social justice and reward the talents of all young people.
He also pledged to end the "Tory attack" on Sure Start centres and increase childcare from 15 to 25 hours a week for the three and four year olds of working parents.
