ACCRINGTON and District Sea Cadets has invited residents to visit its new recruitment shop.
Every Saturday, between 10am and 2pm, members offer information about the sea cadets, as well as volunteering, as their shop near the entrance of the Arndale Centre.
Thirty cadets aged between 10 and 18 learn how to sail, kayak, canoe and row, as well as gaining qualifications to further their future careers. Madison, 13, has been a cadet for two years. She said: “I wish the shop was open when I joined as I was very nervous because I didn’t know what to expect. At least now anybody who comes to the shop can ask all the questions they need before coming down to the unit.”
Commanding officer, S/Lt Mark Thompson added: “This shop allows us to directly interact with potential new volunteers.”
