A BLACKBURN family escaped from a house after an arson attack.
The arsonist set fire to a shed in the back yard and a wheelie bin at the side of the house in Abraham Street.
The shed and bin were completely destroyed, and flames were so fierce that the guttering at the back of the house caught fire.
The fire brigade have arrived just as the guttering had caught fire and were able to extinguish the fire before anyone was hurt.
The people in the house, a woman and her two young children, were alerted to the fire by the next door neighbour, and managed to escape safely.
DC Hutchinson from Blackburn CID said: “If they hadn’t been woken by the neighbour and called the fire brigade then not just the guttering but the whole house could have set fire.”
The incident happened at 6.30am on Thursday, September 25.
Police are asking anyone who knows anything about this fire or witnessed anyone acting suspiciously in the area at the time please contact DC3226 Hutchinson eon 101.
