A MAN found in a yard looking for things to steal in the early hours had his transport confiscated - his bike.

Lee Duckworth, 38, had been discovered lying on his side, trying to hide under the front of a skip by police when they arrived at ESP Play, in Burnley.

As well as the cycle, he had a rucksack with him, which contained, among other things, gloves and glass cutters and a district judge has also taken those off him as well.

The town's magistrates court heard how Duckworth, said to have got into the yard through insecure metal gates, told officers he was looking for anything worth stealing to sell on for cash.

The defendant, of Parkinson Street, Burnley, admitted being found in an enclosed yard for unlawful purposes at 2.20am, on September 17.

District Judge James Clarke said Duckworth was subject to a court order - a six month conditional discharge -for a similar offence at the time.

Duckworth was sentenced to an eight week curfew, between 8pm and 6am and was told to pay £85 costs and a £60 victim surcharge.
