A SERVICE of remembrance to mark the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War has been held in Great Harwood.
The town’s Royal British Legion branch held the service at the cenotaph in Memorial Park, where two wreaths were laid to honour the fallen of the First World War.
A parade was then led down Church Street to Town Gate, where participants sang war-time songs and dressed in period clothing.
Later, the Civic Society’s annual charity market was held on the square.
Local groups set up their stall to help to raise money.
