A TEAM of medics is set to descend on Burnley’s main shopping street to offer ‘MOTs’ to shoppers and town centre workers.

Members of the Healthy Lifestyle team from Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust will be in St James Street tomorrow from 10am to 4pm to offer free NHS health checks.

They will be available for anyone aged between 40 and 74 and will aim to help identify if someone is at risk of developing conditions like heart disease, stroke, diabetes and kidney disease.

The medics will be on the Space Bus and also handing out advice on quitting smoking, alcohol consumption and weight management.

Gareth Beck, a trust health improvement specialist, said: “It would be great to see as many people as possible come and see us.

“The health checks will be conducted in private areas.”
