Prosecutor Parveen Akhtar said Mr Harrison was at his home in Exchange Street when he heard shouting from the street.
The 76-year-old thought the man, later identified as Morris, was ‘under the influence’, as he kicked out and smashed the Rialto’s wing mirror.
He continued to shatter the car’s front offside window. causing damage estimated at around £86.
Glenn Smith, defending, said his client was polite and well-mannered when he had not been drinking.
Morris, of Cambridge Street, Colne, who admitted causing criminal damage, had been assaulted shortly before the incident and wished to apologise for his actions, the court was told.
District Judge James Clarke said that Morris should be remanded on bail for pre-sentence reports until September 24.
