A FORMER Nelson and Colne College student returned recently to carry out professional ground investigations for the new building project at the campus.
The college has invested in an ambitious regeneration of its facilities, including a new high-tech all-weather sports pitch, renovated STEM Centre and link buildings. One of the professional geologists working on the scheme is Sarah Hey, a former A Level student.
She said: “The diverse subjects offered by the college gave me the opportunity to learn interesting subjects such as geology and environmental science, which are not always available to study at A Level.
“Without studying geology I don’t think I would have progressed to university to study it and I wouldn’t be where I am today.
“I had a fantastic time at college, with the most memorable moment in my studies being the field trip to Arran, which was when I knew I wanted to be a geologist.”
