BOSSES at North West Ambulance Service fear some nurse advisors at its 111 telephone advice service have a ‘high propensity’ to dispatch an ambulance to the scene when the patient has no transport.

In June, this amounted to 198 non-urgent cases being transferred to 999 crews when this was possibly inappropriate. The trust’s board papers said the issue is ‘being addressed’.
