A RIBBLE Valley soldier maimed in a bomb blast is set to appear at The Grand in Clitheroe in October.
Sergeant Rick Clement, who grew up in Chatburn will speak about his experiences after losing both his legs while serving in Afghanistan in May, 2010.
Sgt Clement, who served in the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment for 14 years, was leading a foot patrol when he stepped on a landmine in the Helmand district.
The blast blew off both legs, severely damaged an arm, and caused terrible internal injuries.
The former Clitheroe Royal Grammar School student will talk about his determination to regain his independence, mastering a wheelchair, learning to drive again and raising thousands of pounds for his own charity – A Soldier’s Journey.
There will also be a question and answer session.
The event will be held on October 29 from 7pm.
Tickets cost £8 in advance and £5 for under 18s.
