So, newly-elected Andrew Graham who represents the For Darwen party in the Sunnyhurst Ward is - some say - too inexperienced' at 24 to represent this proud town.

Tell me then, I was elected last year as a new Conservative councillor for the Meadowhead ward in Blackburn, at 64, does that mean I'm too experienced'? After all, as your paper well knows and has documented, I have made some howlers in my first year on the council. But I'll admit I've learned by those mistakes.

I and my fellow councillors in my ward listen and learn and we'll forever go on doing that. We will carry on representing everyone - no matter what age, creed or colour.

What are the so-called critics' views of a young man going into battle? Are they too inexperienced'? When is the appropriate time to fire a weapon at their enemies?

I'll tell you what this is all about - it's nothing to do with age or inexperience, it's about Labour not listening to anyone who has the audacity to criticise them - no matter what age! We need fresh blood, particularly those young men and women who will bring new and innovative ideas TO ALL PARTIES. We need young voters interested in our future. What would you say about the experience' of our so-called Labour leader? What do the pensioners and low-paid workers think of his experience'?

We should ALL work for the better good of Blackburn with Darwen and I'd like to welcome too inexperienced' Andrew to our meetings. Well done lad.

Give this brave young gentleman a chance.

Councillor Konrad Tapp, Meadowhead Ward.
