The world must act over Mugabe

I say to the world leaders, please go and help the people of Zimbabwe. The world cannot just sit and talk about helping when nothing is being done. We need serious action, before it's too late.

Whilst all this "political foreplay" is being carried out by the UN and the African Union there are people being beaten and killed in the rural areas of Zimbabwe for having voted against their so-called "dear leader". If the UN is serious about their concern regarding the situation, they should have already deployed peace keepers to Zimbabwe to monitor the situation and protect the electorate.

By the time they get there the poor people will be so physically and mentally traumatised that there will be no point.

I think this murderer, the old fool, is trying to cling to power until he is 85. Then he thinks he will no longer face retribution from the international community for atrocities and crimes against humanity for which he is answerable.

In view of the fact that he will be 85 in approximately 10 months time I would suggest grabbing the old goat now and making him stand trial along side Charles Taylor. All this dithering and duthering by the UN and the international community is wasting time. Grab him now!

    Councillor Salim Mulla, Blackburn.

It was Mugabe and the rest of the african nations who wanted the british colonials out of southern rhodesia, and their own independence. Now they can stew in it. Don't blame Britain or the western world for the lunacy of Africa. I bet you wanted the British out of India Salim...It's yours.. so now you come to Britain, and sit here and complain. I'll bet you would never go to Zimbabwe and help the opposition...nah..to much like hard work!
