Council must act over bus routes

I RECEIVED a letter from Transdev buses dated April 8. It said reasons for with-drawing the Greenhead Avenue bus stop were, parking issues on Greenhead Avenue, Blackburn.

The letter said that at times bus drivers have had to knock on doors and ask people to move their cars.

Also there has been abuse to their drivers, and anti-social behaviour from a loutish element.

Apparently Transdev has spoken to Blackburn with Darwen Council and I believe it is in the council's powers to do something about the problem.

I have written to Blackburn MP Jack Straw and the council.

I have been in contact with Coun P McFall who told me she had contacted the police on two occasions about anti-social behaviour and would do so again.

Since then I have heard nothing.

So it appears all the time I have been giving Transdev Buses an ear-bashing, the council, police and councillors have known about the problems of the bus stop, but have chosen to keep their heads down and do nothing.

Transdev told me if solutions could be found to resolve these problems, it will reconsider its decision, so now it is up to the council and police to sort it out.

H HAMER, Lowther Place, Blackburn.
