SOMEONE once said that politics is a rough old trade. Especially in the run-up to election time all parties attack the policies and records of opponents.
And this is fair enough. However, I have seen recent Coalition leaflets just making things up.
They have said that if Labour are elected we would not build Darwen Leisure Centre. This is not true. Every penny for the new centre was in our alternative budget.
They have said that if elected Labour would scrap the new refuse collection system. This is not true. We think spending £1.5 million to change to the new system was a waste of money. But spending another £1.5 million to change it back would be just as bad.
