REGARDING ‘Rossendale bus drivers set to strike in row over pay’ (LT, January 30), I cannot really see very much will be gained by going on strike – a night watching the TV, maybe.
People need to realise that the unions never pay strike pay for your lost wages.
This is something mentioned in the rules of the trade unions when they were first formed, but conveniently forgotten by them now.
So you will lose pay.
The only people who can affect the people, and will get the government to step in, are petrol tanker drivers and people who work in power stations – in other words, if you are going to stop the running of the country.
I am afraid the government have never heard of Rossendale, so I cannot see you getting anybody worried.
The taxi drivers will think Christmas has come early, and you will have a reduced wage but your bills will be the same.
