RE the report about fears over youngsters chewing shisha tobacco (LT, January 29), unless solving the problem results in jobs being made for the local area, then leave them to it.
In our ‘economic crisis’ we have much more serious things to be sorting out, ie. creating jobs.
I read somewhere that Subway are opening up another 600 shops in the UK, resulting in around 4,000 jobs.
Subway food isn’t much better for you than McDonald’s, so the health ministers and doctors will whinge – but 4,000 people will be earning a wage!
I don’t chew shisha tobacco, or even know anyone who does, but it’s pleasure for some people, obviously – just as I find pleasure in smoking cigarettes and having four cans of lager on a Friday night.
Soon, all types of fun will be banned, resulting in more job losses (brewery workers, cigarette manufactures, tobacconists, nurses/doctors).
Name supplied, Blackburn.

I'm not sure I can applaud jobs being created by the opening of 100s of more outlets serving unhealthy food. If that's the only hope we have, employment wise, then we are knackered and might as well legalise crack and prostitution.
