Nick Clegg has declared he wants a fairer tax system to help the lower middle class: an increase in the tax threshold to £10,000 will cost £9billion.
This will be raised in part by closing loop-holes, such as off-shore accounts for higher income earners.
Where will the rest of it come from?
What about increased fines for high income earners who drive at high speed?
Aren’t earnings-related fines for breaking speed limits equally as fair as a fairer tax system? (Don’t Switzerland and Sweden ‘tax’ speeders this way?) As those with ‘money to burn’ travel our motorways (and dual carriageways) at 80mph and above, responsible and hard-up drivers, travelling at 60 to 70mph, get left behind – not only highly frustrating but dangerous.
Why should the rules of the ‘rat race’ be any different to the rules in any other race?
Will our Olympics be clean, fair and safe?
Any sportsperson found to have won by taking performance enhancing products will not only forfeit their medal, they’ll also compromise all future sport/job prospects, lose sponsorship for themselves and perhaps their sport, and lose the respect of fellow athletes and the public.
Roads without casualties and congestion could mean a more efficient NHS and emergency services; afford-able insurance premiums for hard-up drivers and businesses; less heartache and depression; less alcohol and drug dependency; and fewer disability payments.
