Making councils the scapegoats

Communities Secretary Eric Pickles said councillors had a moral duty to sign up to the government’s council tax freeze.

Some local authorities have said they will increase council tax and reject money from central government.

Many planning increases say it is the only way they can protect services in light of cuts.

Government figures indicate 142 councils have so far promised to freeze bills. Last year’s freeze was observed by all councils.

This government has tied their hands and feet and then blame them when cuts are made.

I say convenient scapegoats for badly thought-through government policies.

I saw a TV programme about Westminster Council and the great care given to maintaining its pavements and roads, etc.

I wish we could have a bit of this care shown for our rural roads and pavements, but the excuse is always ‘lack of funds’! How’s that for fairness, Mr Pickles?

I simply cannot take Eric Pickles seriously.

He habitually adopts a confro-ntational stance and never seeks solutions; he simply stirs up and clouds the issues.

That’s Tory politicians for you.

If there weren't so many snouts in the trough maybe there wouldn't any rises.

Get a grip of benefit fraud it could be council tax freeze and tax cuts.

Some people have no shame.

The government could save money if it didn't spend millions on stopping folk getting fat, eating 5 portions of veg a day, and telling them to take more excercise.

I assume Mr Mulla that you not taking Mr Pickles seriously is for the same reasons you and your fellow Labour councillors in BWDBC have clearly dispelled with following the code of conduct for Councillors and are using your own rule book!!

Benefit fraud is a very very small amount of the welfare budget.

A mere 5% would be a substantial sum indeed.

So anyone that isn't a Liebour supporter is bigot or racist?

Typical Liebour.

One man's "spleen" is another man's "fair comment"

None of us can take Mr Pickles seriously but nor can we take Cllr Mulla seriously. He should keep his head down or better still resign.
We do not want to read comments that he has put his name to as it devalues the merits of the criticism.
Cllr Mulla you will never gain the respect of the majority of the community for we don't have any regard for benefit cheats.
