How to make a difference

We are well into 2012 and I am pleased to say that more and more people are hearing the call and making their areas better.

I have seen plenty of residents fighting for their borough.

There is a group in Shadsworth called the Hillside Residents’ Association who regularly take to their streets to clean them up.

In Darwen, St Peter’s Residents Assoc-iation have stood up to anti-social behaviour. And at ward solution meetings, I residents say they want to make a difference.

A minority of people have scoffed at these citizens saying it’s the council’s job to clean up, or that they are interfering busy bodies.

I really can’t fathom why any would object to people being good neighbours. Being a kind and considerate resident is a noble thing.

It’s really a shame that anyone could criticise people who are fighting for their community.

But being good neighbour doesn’t just mean going on litter picks. Thinking twice before throwing litter on the floor or before letting your pet foul the pavement makes you a good neighbour.

Just checking on a vulnerable or elderly person on your street marks you out to be a good neighbour.

We have just come out of the toughest year this borough has faced. There are still tough times ahead. But there is also hope.

There are plenty of people coming forward to stand up for the area.

If everyone pulls together and fights for Blackburn with Darwen, we can make this a better place.

To get involved, email: yourcall@ blackburn.gov.ukor phone 01254 588188 or text Yourcall to 88020.

Coun Kate Hollern, Leader, Blackburn with Darwen Council.

Dear Councillor Hollern, I notice you have conveniently not mentioned the group in Beardwood who are forced into taking legal action against your council in order to protect their neighbourhood and community after your Council forgot all semblance of the Councillors Code of Conduct.

Why would she mention it in a letter about residents improving their areas? She didn't mention street painting, flowers in the town center or bin collections either!

Why would she, she is MY councillor, not yours..
Blue Peter, you would be best served if you insisted that, YOUR councillor had the testicles to endure the wrath of the locals, on any issuses.
The blatant fact that MY councillor, has the nuts, to be open and honest about her opinions gains, in my opinion, my respect.
Although I never did vote for her, she is MY councillor now, have to live with that fact, warts and all.
If I have an issuse, would she ask, did you vote me?
It's whatever floats her boat..
All things, to all men..

Not a Labour voter, stuck with her...
But, I do the other thing, use and abuse her, to gain my own ends.
The fact that I'm charming, witty and speak in the correct ways, gets done, what should be done.
It is a rule of war, you utilise the forces available to you, at that time.
Kate Hollern, is just a pawn, sacrificed, for the greater good..
It's why she never gained the party nomination to succeed Jack Straw, although eminently qualified to do so..

Look at the list of possibles..
a screaming ab-dab,
Kate Hollern...Labour
then the others..
EDL.
BNF.
Conservative party.
Liberal Democrats.

you would vote for, what you know.
Kate Hollern is the man for the job.
The tit thing, breast reduction surgery, was for a centre fold of the Labour Party Manifesto..
She has an outey belly button, therefore failed the criteria.
Other than that, gorgeous.
