I HAVE to walk along Blackburn’s Barbara Castle Way (with difficulty, imposed upon me by the new public transport routes, but that argument can wait), and up Limbrick to St Andrew’s Road.
I was ashamed at the amount of litter and rubbish on the pavement, in the bushes and on the road as well as a big sack of rubbish on the pavement which has been there for weeks.
First, why do people feel they can just throw all their rubbish on to the streets? Have we no pride any longer? Take your rubbish home or put it in a bin.
Second, why isn’t it cleaned away? The by-pass is a showplace for Blackburn, well designed taking traffic through the town, and what do we leave there for visitors to see? Rubbish. It must leave a very poor impression of our town.
