Most people have risked their lives dodging traffic crossing over from Blackburn Market to Morrisons, not to mention the standing rain water.
Now this caring council are blocking the subways/ underpasses because of the dodgy steps leading down to them.
Surely, these subways need preserving and made safer, instead of concreting them all up. The first to go was the one in Ainsworth Street near the old Woolworths; now the one outside the Tre Fontaine cafe.
I, and many more remember in the 60s William Press diverting the river Blakewater at Salford and Railway Road – what a mammoth, dirty and expensive job that was, not to mention the disruption it caused.
The subways were built at the time at enormous cost to the ratepayers due to the rebuilding of Blackburn.
Surely we still need the subways. Safety is paramount. Other councils cope.
