Low council tax but dirty streets

6:10pm Saturday 13th March 2010

THE council have done a good job keeping council tax low for Darwen and Blackburn residents (once again).

Rumour has it that the election could be in a few weeks time and may take place on April 15.

Don’t forget to vote, folks.

Apparently pot-hole maintenance has stopped because apparently it’s out of season (March/October) but what about street litter, blocked drains and dog mess?

Darwen is a dirty, dismal dump. There are no street pickers any more and there’s rubbish on entrances and exits to the M65 motorway at Junction 4.

Darwen railway station has to be seen to be believed as do the alley between Lightbown Street and Exchange Street, the areas outside Exchange Street sub station, Heyes Lane sub station, also Borough Road (temporary car park) plus hundred more sites.

The cleansing department don’t seem the least bit interested.

One good thing about living in Darwen is, when you go on holiday (anywhere in the world) it is almost guaranteed to be cleaner and safer!

F CROMPTON, Lightbown Street, Darwen.
