I see the bleeding hearts are out again, this time for Ronnie Biggs as it seems that keeping him in prison is inhumane.

People seem to forget the seriousness of the crime: The train robbers didn’t just get away with a load of money – a man was coshed and later died as a result of this.

The train robbers got the appropriate sentence at the time for what was a serious crime.

Biggs escaped prison, to live a life of celebrity in Brazil. He only gave himself up when his health failed and he wanted to avail himself of the medical treatment he could not get freely in Brazil.

What we need is more sentences today like those handed out to the train robbers, instead of murderers being let out after a couple of years.

The justice system (I use the term loosely) seems to always favour the perpetrator rather than the victim.
