A DEVELOPER'S bid to remove the affordable homes from its new cul-de-sac at Cowan Bridge has been turned down.
Lancaster City Council planners decided to stick with 39 per cent affordable housing at the site, behind Burr Tree Cottage, at Long Level, where 18 dwellings are being built by Applethwaite.
The council's highways and planning regulatory committee agreed to vary the homes' tenure to comprise three affordable rent homes, and four shared ownership.
The Bamber Bridge-based developer had wanted to reduce the affordable element to zero per cent to enable the scheme to "achieve a target competitive return".
The attempt sparked ten objections, including from Ireby with Leck Parish Council and Burrow-with-Burrow Parish Meeting.
