WITH fewer than 100 days to go until this year’s award-winning Lancaster Music Festival, plans are coming together to make this year’s event the biggest and best yet.
A variety of performance spaces and a number of new hosts are set to bring this year’s live music venue count to almost fifty over the long weekend.
Novel new highlights at this year’s event include a musical heritage bus service running in and around the city, and live music being hosted by barges moored on Lancaster’s historic canal.
The festival started back in 2009 as a three day event highlighting the wide array of talent performing for free in Lancaster’s city-centre pubs.
Last year over five hundred performances at over forty venues brought an estimated 70,000 individual visits to the city and created a revenue boost of nearly two million pounds.
Festival Coordinator, Ben Ruth said, “It’s great that the people of Lancaster have taken the festival to their hearts from day one, supporting the city’s vibrant live music scene during the festival.”
