A BURNLEY woman has been treated in hospital after a dehumidifier caught fire in her cellar in the early hours.
Fire chiefs say the householder, in her 20s, was awoken by the smell of smoke at her home in Linden Street at around 2.17am today.
She managed to escape the property with her pet dog while Burnley firefighters used a fan to ventilate the property.
A Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said that the dehumidifier was destroyed in the incident and there was smoke damage to the ground and first floors of the house.
He also said that paramedics treated the woman at the scene but she later made her own to Burnley General Hospital, to be treated for the after-effects of smoke inhalation.
