A TOWN turned out to celebrate the life of a woman killed in a hit-and-run incident on Boxing Day.

More than 200 mourners lined the streets and gathered inside St Peter and St Paul’s parish church, Rishton, to say goodbye to Susan Shaw.

Friends and family paid tribute to the 47-year-old ‘devoted’ mother-of-two who died after being hit by a car during a police pursuit on Boxing Day.

The church was packed with loved ones clad in bright colours and sparkles in honour of Ms Shaw, who loved bling, parties and dancing.

The service began with the hymn ‘All things bright and beautiful’ in honour of the animal-lover who was devoted to her dog, Smudge.

Friend Jackie Ford, who spoke on behalf of Ms Shaw’s close friends, described her as a wonderful person

She said: “She was a wonderful person with a kind heart, she would literally do anything for anyone.

“We are left with a piece of our hearts missing and an empty space where she should be.”

Ms Shaw leaves behind her sister Debbie, mum Annette, dad David and children Leanne and Adam who were described as her ‘world, heart and life’.

Damien Raeburn, 31, from Accrington, has been charged with causing Mrs Shaw’s death by dangerous driving and will appear at Burnley Crown Court later in the year.
