A 20-year-old who was found dead at his home has been described as 'a kind and loving lad who could light up a room with his smile'.

Computer student, Joshua Green, of Knowles Street, Rishton, was found unresponsive at his home by his brother Rick Holbrook, 32, on Wednesday, July 27.

Police and paramedics attended the address but they were unable to revive him.

Police subsequently said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

Rick Holbrook said his brother, a former Norden High and Blackburn College student, was an extremely popular young man with a 'big heart'.

He added that his sudden death had left his family 'completely shocked and devastated'.

He said: "Joshua was loved by so many people and all his family thought he was amazing.

"We've been overwhelmed by messages and happy memories from his friends from school and college.

"We've heard from people from Accrington, Blackburn, Darwen and Manchester. He had so many mates.

"All of them described him a sweet natured with a terrific smile.

"Joshua could make a room full of people laugh with no effort at all.

"He wasn't much of a drinker and enjoyed playing football in Cutwood Park with his friends and talking his dog out.

"He'd been talking about getting a flat with friends and everything seemed fine with him.

"There were no signs that anything like this was going to happen.

"He was kind and selfless and he will be sorely missed by many."

Joshua had recently been working as a farm hand in Rishton but had aspirations to work with computers and was studying IT part time at Blackburn College.

He also leaves parents Janet and Michael Green and sister Michelle, 39.

An inquest into the circumstances surrounding his death has been opened and will be resumed on Thursday, October 20 at Blackburn Coroners' Court.

Joshua's funeral will be held at St Peter’s and St Paul church, Rishton on Monday, August 22 at 11am.

Family flowers only have been requested, with donations asked to be sent to the Royal British Legion.
