RISHTON property owner Anthony Faulkes has been fined for the second time for failing to repair a dilapidated building in Spring Street. At Hyndburn Magistrates Court he was convicted of a repeat offence of failing to comply with a 2014 council notice.
Hyndburn borough housing boss, Clare Cleary, said: “This is the second time Mr Faulkes has been prosecuted for failing to bring this property into a state of repair.
“This property is in a dilapidated state and residents living nearby have had to endure years of leaking roofs, boarded windows and burst water pipes.
“Enforcement officers have been in touch with Mr Faulkes on many occasions to get the work done.
“He has failed to do so and so we’ve had no option but to take him to court.”
On October 8, Mr Faulkes, of Sands Road, Rishton, was convicted of a second failure to comply with a notice served requiring him to carry out remedial work to 58 Spring Street. He was fined £1,000, with a £100 victim surcharge, £540 prosecution costs and a court fee of £150.
The penalty totalled £1,790.
