One resident said: “I hear there have been two or three done in Norfolk Street in past weeks, and both mine and a neighbour's have been vandalised on the top block of Haworth Street this week.

“Mine was done at 9pm and we saw two youths running down towards Walmsley Street, one holding his hand.

“The police were called and responded quickly but the mirror will cost more than than £100 to replace as it’s heated, so I would be very grateful for any support in catching the culprits or any info that anyone could give.”

Local councillor Clare Cleary said: “We get a spate of this every so often and it is usually mindless vandalism by one or two individuals, but it has repercussions for the victims.

“It involves taking time out to get the problem repaired and this usually costs quite a bit of money even with insurance.

“I would urge anyone with any information to come forward or ring the police on 101 to get it logged.”

A police spokeswoman said anybody with information can call 101 or speak to their neighbourhood policing team by calling 01254 353334.
