A WOMAN flipped a car onto its roof when she hit a telegraph pole during a driving lesson.

Firefighters cut the driver and her female instructor free from the Vauxhall Corsa after they were called to the scene in Haslingden Old Road, Oswaldtwistle, at about 4.20pm yesterday.

Watch manager Paul Whittaker said: “It was a young lady on a driving lesson.

“She lost control on the bends at Ramsclough Farm and hit a telegraph pole, and the car ended up on its roof with her and her instructor, who were both in their 20s, inside.

"I don’t think they were particularly badly hurt. The ambulance crew were concerned about spinal injuries, so we got them out on spinal boards, but that is quite normal these days.

“We were there for about an hour because it was difficult to extricate them.”
