TRAFFIC will be slowed down in three areas of Oswaldtwistle.
Lancashire County Council chiefs have announced that 20mph zones are to be rolled out in three key parts of the town.
County councillor for the area Peter Britcliffe welcomed the news as having potential to save lives.
The areas to have the new speed restrictions are the Broadfield area, Hargreaves Road area and West End/ Thwaites Road area.
LCC say the changes will take place in the next financial year.
Coun Britcliffe said: “I am delighted that Oswaldtwistle will benefit from this scheme.
A speed limit of 20mph is plenty in these areas and will increase the chances of survival if anyone is hit by a car.”
A statutory consultation process for these areas is to open shortly when the detailed designed plans will be available to view at www.lancashire.gov.uk/20mph.
It is part of a plan to implement 20mph zones across of much of Lancashire.
