A NEW micropub is aiming to add a new dimension to a town centre.

Ian Goddard and his partner Kate Byrnes opened The Vault on Union Road in Oswaldtwistle, offering real ale and quality gins.

Oswaldtwistle has lost many of its pubs over the last decade, but the ones that remain are thriving thanks to new investment.

And Ian is hoping this new offer will be boon for the town and attract people from out of town.

He said: "My biggest motivation is the type of service we are going to provide.

"A lot of pubs went down the karaoke, music, alcopops and shots route but we're offering a nice and quiet place where people can meet and have a drink.

"People might not get the micropub concept initially but hopefully they will get to like it.

"People are going out of town to places like Whalley or Clitheroe for this kind of thing.

"We'll be offering great ales, locally sourced, and as a tweak to the usual micropub concept we're also carrying great selection of gins."

The new pub is carrying locally-sourced ales and the people who has transformed the former beauty salon have come from the local area.

"We're hoping this will provide a boost to the local economy as people will spend locally and then the money we make will also go back into the economy.

He said: "Everything we've used or will stock comes from the North West. Our opening line-up of ales comes from local breweries but that doesn't mean we won't look further afield.

"There are some fantastic ales being brewed in the north west. And as well as the gin revolution, we're hoping that people enjoy our new offer.

"This part of Oswaldtwistle is great and there are a lot of great pubs. Our last orders will be at 9.30pm and we close at 10pm so we're hoping we can compliment the other pubs and bars in the town and we can all benefit.

"The feedback we've had so far has been very positive on social media so we're hoping people like The Vault and people from out of town choose Oswaldtwistle as a destination for a night out."
