A 14-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of murdering a father-of-two has been released on bail.

But a 49-year-old man, who the Lancashire Telegraph understands to be the teenager's father, has been re-arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody tonight. Detectives said he had been released on Saturday.

The arrests came after Lee Holt, 32, was found with a fatal gunshot wound to the chest on the doorstep of a house in Barnard Close, Oswaldtwistle, at 8.25pm on Wednesday.

Mr Holt, who is from Accrington, was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital where he died of his injuries.

Following the fatal shooting a 14-year-old boy from Oswaldtwistle was arrested on suspicion of murder.

On Thursday a second man, aged 49 and also from Oswaldtwistle, was arrested on suspicion of murder.

The 49-year-old man had been released by detectives yesterday but following further enquiries, he has since been re-arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody.

The 14-year-old boy has been released on bail until November 22.

A gun, which police believe to be the murder weapon, was recovered at the scene.

Police patrols had been stepped up in the area.

Det Chief Insp Jill Johnston, who is leading the murder investigation, said: "This remains a complex and fast-moving investigation.

"We have a dedicated team of detectives, crime scene investigators and forensic scientists completing enquiries to establish the exact events of Wednesday evening and to achieve justice for Lee and his family and friends. Our thoughts remain with them and we continue to have specially trained officers supporting Lee’s family through this difficult time.
