FIVE more objection comments have been received against plans to build a 17.5metre tall 'eyesore' phone mast.

Proposals have been submitted to Hyndburn Council by Vodafone to erect the phone tower and four cabinets in Thwaites Road, Oswaldtwistle.

Last week the Lancashire Telegraph reported six objection letters had already been received, taking the total up to 11.

One objection from Mrs Linda Blakeman, who lives in Thwaites Road, said: "No consultation has been made with the residents in the immediate vicinity.

"We will not accept this health hazard that is trying to be inflicted on us."

The steel monopole will be 17.5metres tall at the telecommunications base station and will provide Vodafone and O2 customers with 3G and 4G services.

A spokesman for CTIL, which Vodafone are part of, said the plans will 'have the least visual impact whilst still providing coverage'.
