A TELEVISION appeal was made to find those responsible for shooting two cats in Hyndburn

BBC’s Crimewatch Roadshow shared the story of cats Rufus and Jasper, after they were targeted by thugs earlier this year, and asked witnesses to share information.

RSPCA inspectors, vets and cat welfare members appeared on the show on Tuesday to discuss the ‘disgusting’ attack.

Andy Richards, of Accrington’s Friends of the Cats, cared for the cats after the shooting.

He said on the show: “People in the area are very worried.

“Someone who would do that is just so beyond my comprehension.”

Black cat Jasper was shot six times by air pellets in Oswaldtwistle in April before ginger cat Rufus was shot in Bold street Accrington, less than two weeks later.

RSPCA staff said they believe the two attacks are linked. Anyone with information should call police on 101 or the RSPCA on 0300 1234 999.
