A RESTERAUNT worker in Oswaldtwistle is set to complete a charity walk for the 10th time to raise money for its owners.

Giovanni Di Maio is head waiter at Franco’s in Union Road and will be tackling the annual Rotary Club of Church and Oswaldtwistle’s 10k walk on Sunday, May 14.

He is raising money for the Anaphylaxis campaign in memory of Francesca, the daughter of the restaurant owners Kim and Franco Sanna.

She died at her family home in Oswaldtwistle after collapsing from an anaphylactic reaction in October 2007.

Mr Di Maio, who has worked for the couple for more than 20 years, has previously raised more than £3,000 for the cause.

Staff at the Rotary club said they are pleased to see Mr Di Maio competing again and the total number of people taking part.

Ron Pickup, walk organiser, said: “The club is delighted to see the high number of people signing up for the walk.

“I am extremely pleased that once again this event is proving to be so popular, and I am sure it will be an enjoyable day, with the walkers raising much needed funds for their nominated charity.”
