A SCOUT group will be taking part in a fundraising walk to raise money in memory of Megan Lee.

A total of 15 members aged between 10 and 14 from the 1st Oswaldtwistle St Pauls group have signed up for the Rotary Club of Church and Oswaldtwistle’s charity walk.

Half of the money raised will go towards the Anaphylaxis Campaign in memory of 15-year-old Megan who died in January after suffering a severe allergic reaction.

The other half of the money will go towards the group completing their Scouts Gold Award Scout leader Mick Shackleton said: “I am proud that all the scouts that are taking part in this charity walk as they intend to raise money, of which half will go to the Anaphylaxis Campaign.”

To earn the gold awards scouts will have to earn badges for activities such as canoeing, cooking and first aid.

The 10k walk will take place on Sunday, May 14, starting from near the Dunkenhalgh Hotel in Clayton-le-Moors.

The route will go along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal and along the old railway track in Great Harwood.

Walk organiser Ron Pickup said: “I am delighted the scouts are turning out in big numbers, and hope they all enjoy the experience.”
