A PUB in Oswaldtwistle run by the brother of famous comedian Jason Manford is celebrating being awarded a plaque to mark the quality of its ale.

The Black Dog in Union Road was opened by husband and wife duo Colin Manford and Emma Kearney at the end of October last year.

Their pub has recently been awarded the ‘Cask Marque’ plaque for its ales after an unannounced taste test at the pub, where its ales scored ‘perfectly’ with inspectors.

Mrs Kearney said: “We’ve only been open about 18 weeks and it’s really great that we’ve been awarded this.

“The inspectors who came in said that our ales were perfect which was great to hear.

“It’s capped off what’s been a really great start for us, we’ve got a really nice pub going here.”

‘Cask Marque’ is an award for pubs which serve great quality cask ale.
