A ‘BRAVE’ six-year-old boy, who suffers from heart disease, had his dream come true when he came face to face with his favourite cartoon character.

Reece Scott met ‘Donatello’, one of the crime-fighting reptiles from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, at a themed party at the Mercure Dunkenhalgh Hotel, yesterday.

Dressed as his favourite green-skinned character, along with more than 30 of his friends, the Oswaldtwistle youngster took part in games and activities.

The Hippings Methodist Primary School pupil was diagnosed with the condition before he was born, and also suffers from epilepsy and dangerous high blood pressure.

He has to make regular hospital trips across the country to monitor his well-being.

His condition means he will have to be put on a transplant list in the future once his heart degenerates beyond a healthy level.

Mum Sarah Scott said her son had a constant smile on his face throughout the party.

She said: “Reece had asked me almost everyday when he was going to see the turtle.

“He loves them, he watches them on television and he’s been a massive fan for two years now.

“The party was brilliant because it helped distract Reece from the day-to-day battles he has to face.

“His conditions mean he tires very easily, in the cold he can turn blue.”

The party was organised by the Rays of Sunshine charity, who grant a wish for children with life limiting illnesses.

His twin brother Regan, and brothers Isaac, two, Zack, eight, Dane, 14 and big sister Demi, 17, also took part in the party.

Reece’s dad, Stuart, said: “The hospital visits don’t faze him, he has to travel to Newcastle, London and Manchester for appointments.

“He’s very brave. He’s a little fighter.”

“Before he was born we were advised to have an abortion as his condition was very bad,

“But here we are now, six years later.

“We have to keep going together as a family.”
