Armstrong, 31, of Badge Brow, Oswaldtwistle, admitted criminal damage. He was sentenced to eight weeks in prison suspended for 12 months with a six-month alcohol treatment requirement. He was also ordered to pay £2,700 compensation and a £150 criminal court charge.

Andy Robinson, prosecuting, said Armstrong told the landlady he had put money in a gaming machine and it hadn’t come back. He demanded the money and was finally ordered out.

“He picked up a traffic cone and repeatedly hit the front window with it until it smashed,” said Mr Robinson. “He then broke a number of smaller windows.”

Imran Hussain, defending, said he had been celebrating a friend’s birthday and had drunk too much.
