A TERRY Pratchett play will open for its first night this evening.
The Oswaldtwistle Players will be performing the ‘sassy satirical romp’ Wyrd Sisters by the reknown fantasy author.
Organisers of the performance are also encouraging members of the audience to attend in costume to complete the opening night spirit.
There will be a free programme for any audience member dressed as a character from Discworld.
Directed by Martina Burns the play explores a fantasy world known as Discworld and was inspired by Shakespeare’s Macbeth, complete with three witches, princes, kings and murder.
Terry Pratchett, 65, is best known for his Discworld series of fantasy novels. He was also diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2007 and campaigns for more funding to research the disease.
The performing rights royalties for the Wyrd Sisters will be paid to the Orangutan Foundation — one of the characters in his novels is an orangutan.
The show will be on at the Civic Theatre, Union Road, Oswaldtwistle tonight at 7.30pm with showings until Saturday.
