BIN man Roy Wilcock has been praised after notching up 41 years in the job – with hardly a day off.
Mr Wilcock, 59, a Blackburn with Darwen refuse team leader, has received a long service award from his bosses.
He has worked for the authority since he was 18 and now drives wagons on rural routes and for trade collections in Blackburn and Darwen.
The former Blackburn Rovers trainee, who lives in Knuzden, was praised for his exemplary service.
Peter Hunt, director of environment, said Roy was 100 per cent reliable.
He said: “He’s a legendary driver and if he can’t get the wagon to an area, no-one can.
"I’m delighted to see his long career recognised with an award. No-one deserves it more.”
Currently the council has a long service award for people who complete 20 years’ service but a special prize had to be created for Mr Wilcock.
