CHILDREN gave speeding motorists a telling-off after catching them out using a police hand held camera.

Almost 30 youngsters aged between eight and 14 stopped drivers close to St Oswald’s Primary School, Knuzden, with the help of community beat manager PC Laura Walsh and Sergeant Simon Lynch.

The event, organised by local PCSO Andy Connell, also included a knockout ‘Wii World Cup’ competition, a football tournament, tee shirt design and mug painting.

PCSO Connell said: “This was a great way for the Neighbour-hood Policing Team to engage with local children during the summer holidays.

Children from across the town joined in all of the activities that we put on for them.

“They really enjoyed using the speed device.

“This is an issue which has been highlighted by the local community, so it was great that the kids could help us to tackle it.

“I would like to thank YNOT, Knuzden News, Knuzden Supermarket and SG Animal Feeds who all donated funding or refreshments so that the event could take place.”
