A HAVEN for wildlife has been created following work to create an underground flood tank in Knuzden.
The £20,000 transformation of the plot at Cornwall Avenue, which for months has been an ugly crater, was achieved with landscaping, a dry stone wall and bird boxes.
The beauty spot was created after engineers from United Utilities carved out a giant underground flood prevention tank, capable of holding a whopping 300 cubic metres of rainwater.
The makeover, funded by United Utilities and environmental charity Groundwork Pennine Lancashire, is also thanks to local residents, who turned out for a community planting day to add the finishing touches.
