999 worker attacked on call out to Knuzden

AN AMBULANCE technician trying to treat a Knuzden patient with suspected heart problems was attacked by a partygoer, a court heard.

Paramedics had been called to a gathering in Booth Crescent, Waterfoot, where Julie Robson was having chest pains, Burnley magistrates were told.

But her friend Kelly Walsh, 24, would not let ambulance technician Anthony Dunn leave before Mrs Robson had said goodbye to her son, the court was told.

Prosecutor Alex Mann said Walsh, of Rutland Close, Knuzden, grabbed Mr Dunn’s arm and dug his nails into the ambulance worker’s arm.

Walsh continually hurled abuse at the technician, while the crew attempted to remove the patient from the building.

The court heard that Mr Dunn was not seriously hurt by Walsh, who had been drinking, but he did suffered a stinging sensation.

Roger Pickles, defending, said his client, who had no previous convictions, had suffered a number of personal problems during the past year.

Walsh admitted assault was given a 12-month supervision order and ordered to pay Mr Dunn £75 in compensation.
