DEFENDER Michael Liddle and goalkeeper Lee Nicholls are expected to go straight into Accrington Stanley’s starting line-up this afternoon after joining the club on loan yesterday.

Stanley make the trip to Paolo Di Canio’s Swindon and have eased their defensive shortage with the signing of 22-year-old Liddle on an initial month’s loan from Sunderland.

The Reds only had one fit centre half after Toto Nsiala was ruled out with a hernia problem so Republic of Ireland under 21 international Liddle is likely to play.

Nicholls has revealed on Twitter that he will start after arriving on loan from Wigan until the end of the season. It will be the 19-year-old’s first senior appearance.

Ian Dunbavin will be on the bench, with Sean Murdoch left out of the squad.

Tom Bender’s season-long loan at Stanley has been cut short because of injury.

The 19-year-old, who has been out with a hamstring worry and has now returned to Colchester, made national headlines in October when he was knocked unconscious during a Johnstone’s Paint Trophy tie against Tranmere – forcing the abandonment of the game.
