A NEW bus service is to make half-hourly trips between Accrington and Huncoat.
The service, which will run from Monday, March 8, will travel from Accrington Bus Station to Huncoat village via Avenue Parade, Alice Street and Burnley Road.
The new number 3 and 3a service will also serve Huncoat flats on Woodside Road.
Operators Pilkingtons Accrington Ltd has announced the service will travel clockwise and anti-clockwise every half hour all day and accepts all NoWcard passes with discounts for regular travellers.
The company currently operates the Dill Hall and Pendleton Avenue services on Saturdays on behalf of Lancashire County Council.
For a three-month trial period the service will run Monday to Friday, however the company said it would then review passenger numbers to consider extending the service into weekends and nights.
A spokesman for the company said: “We have identified a considerable need for these types of buses on local services and we have received a huge amount of enquiries asking for other services in Accrington.”
