LAST month saw the warmest January day on record in Huncoat, it has been revealed.
Weather expert and Huncoat man resident Roy Chetham, said 12.7 degrees on Friday, January 9 was the highest ever recorded in the town.

However, the rest of the month was on the “dull side and above average” for rainfall, frost, snow cover, thunder, and wind, he said.
“Although only six days had more than 50 per cent snow cover at 9am, many more days had partial snow cover lasting into February,” he said.
“The depth varied but never exceeded three centimetres at Huncoat, although within a 10-mile radium up to 15cm was reported.”
He added: “February is likely to have sunny, drier, and colder conditions than average, with overnight frosts and fog.
“But if the jet stream moves at all, then the Atlantic influence could easily bring a change to unsettled milder conditions with rain.”
